The largest opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has called on the Ghana Police Service to immediately arrest and bring to book the Member of Parliament for Abetifi and Minister for Food and Agriculture, Bryan Acheampong for comments the party describe as reckless and treasonable.
"We urge the Ghana Police Service to act with dispatch in this matter," a statement signed by their General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey said.
"In a viral video at a rally to climax a health walk organised by the New Patriotic Party at Kwahu in the Eastern Region on Saturday, April 8th, 2023, an event which was equally addressed by Vice President Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia, the Minister is on record to have assured his party supporters of the determination of the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia NPP government to hold on to power no matter what," he added..
Mr Acheampong addressing party supporters at Mpraeso on Saturday said the ruling New Patriotic Party will never hand-over power to the opposition NDC in 2025.
But the NDC in a statement signed by its General Secretary, Fifi Kwetey, slammed the MP and accused the NPP of attempting to subvert the will of the people in 2024.
“In furtherance of the above evil agenda, there has been a systematic bastardization of every single independent state institution under this Akufo-Addo/Bawumia NPP government. The once respected Electoral Commission has recently witnessed a new low, following the appointment of hardline New Patriotic Party activists into very sensitive positions in the Commission. This action by President Akufo-Addo has left many observers worried and helped to confirm that the ultimate agenda of the NPP is to use every desperate scheme to hold on to power at all cost.
“The NDC, a party that both in the years 2001 and 2017, handed power to NPP when the people of Ghana voted for the NPP, wants to assure Ghanaians that we SHALL DO EVERYTHING that is necessary to protect the democratic will and the sovereignty of the Ghanaian people. We wish to assure the good people of Ghana of our resolve and readiness to do whatever is necessary to preserve the democratic will of the people – even at the peril of our lives. The supreme will of the Ghanaian electorate will be manifested come December 7, 2024.”

Ghanaba whoever do you support violence do you support foolishness
Rawĺnģs made similar comment at a Cape Coast NDC rally in 2000.
On what basis should the NPP government hand over power to the main opposition party, the NDC? I think Bryan was just too cautious in his assessment because the NDC has not been able to come up with any concrete policies that their party will put in place to improve the economy which is being challenged by COVID and the war in Ukraine. The NDC is behaving like a naked person preaching how to dress up just because they want to. Given the circumstances of the NDC's incompetence, there is no need to change the government. Because the NPP has shown that it has enough competence to turn things around with more responsive, tailor-made policies. The NDC is very silent about its alternative better policies in terms of its mandate as an opposition party. Bryan has observed this failure on the part of the NDC and is overconfident that there is no way the NPP can lose to the NDC. Those who are bashing Bryan and reading malicious meaning into his candid assessment are doing so out of ignorance and lack of critical thinking.
Arrest him for what? The NDC had the chance to vote against this guy a few weeks ago but due their own selfish and wicked intentions the took the bait of the NPP and passed him to become a minister. They all knew what this guy is capable of doing and has demonstrated it before at the Ayawaso by election. So they should ***barred word*** and leave our ears alone. They haven’t seen or nothing yet. This is just the beginning of things to come.
