Five opposition political parties; the National Democratic Congress(NDC), Convention People’s Party(CPP), All People’s Congress (APC), Liberal Party of Ghana(LPG) and the Great Consolidated Popular Party(GCPP) have today filed a suit against the Electoral Commission(EC of Ghana in the Supreme Court over the latter’s decision to conduct the upcoming Limited Voter Registration exercise at their District Offices.
The five political parties have filed an Application for Interlocutory Injunction to restrain the EC from proceeding with the announced Limited Voter Registration exercise pending the final determination of the substantive matter.
The parties are of the view that EC’s decision to restrict the centers of voter registration to their district offices has the potential to deprive many eligible voters of their right to be registered as voters and to vote in public elections.
The limited voter registration will be conducted for eligible Ghanaians who turned 18 years old after the 2020 registration exercise and other eligible voters from September 12, 2023, to October 2, 2023.
The EC Chairperson, Jean Mensa, has said that the exercise will be held at all 268 district offices of the EC across the country.
See attached, a copy of the writ filed by the parties for more details.

I'm disappointed in the other parties that are joining hands with the NDC because they don't see anything good about modernity in terms of using new technology - the essence of the Ghana Card - to save money and time. But they are always cynical and read meaning into everything to frustrate the progress of the ruling party, the NPP. It is disgusting to note that the party's interest in the NDC outweighs anything beyond Ghana's interest
Good job done NDC et all. You are lovers of democracy. Every eligible Ghanaian must be given the chance to exercise his/her democratic right by voting. EC and Jean Mensah behave as if they owe Ghana. Let us look at the outcome of the this injunction. The court- packed NPP Judges must save Ghana from the evil plans of Jean Mensa/ Bossman Asare controlled EC.
We always making lame excuses as to why institutions should not work. Was it not same NDC that encouraged its members not to register for the free NIA registration windows. Did these same folks visit the number of people who thronged theNIA head office to pay and get registered? We so hypocritical in our scheme of things. We gloat when people travel long distances to attend rallies and deceitfully cry when Ec is trying to do the needful.
