Supporters of Kennedy Agyapong want him to contest the 2024 presidential election as an independent candidate following his defeat to Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in the NPP's presidential primary.
Kwabena Yankey, the group’s Chairperson addressing a press conference on Tuesday, cited Mr Agyapong’s significant contributions to Ghana’s economic growth as the primary reason for their support.
He highlighted Mr Agyapong’s investments in job creation and infrastructure development as evidence of his suitability for the presidency.
"We the supporters of Kennedy Agyapong representing the 37 percent of the NPP delegates, wish to inform the general public that Kennedy Agyapong needs to be the next president of Ghana. We are advocating for Kennedy Agyapong and we urge him to stand as an independent candidate for a massive win in 2024.”
While acknowledging the recent internal struggles within the NPP, Yankey maintained that Agyapong’s independent candidacy offers the best hope for national progress.
“Kennedy Agyapong renowned for his outspoken nature and unwavering love, has demonstrated his dedication through his actions and spearheaded the establishment of companies that employ 7,000 workers. His initiative to construct a state-of-the-art cardio hospital whose investment surpasses $7 million underscores his commitment to the well-being of Ghana.
“Despite the recent setbacks within the NPP, we continue to believe that supporting him as an independent candidate is crucial for Ghanaians to foster growth, innovation and social welfare of the nation.”

@obiba JK, how have you determined that other aspirants are corrupt but not Bawumia? We are interested in seeing your report. Also tell us where Bawumia got the amount of money he used in the elections from? At least, we were told on live TV by Nana Akomea that each delegate was paid GHS 300 for t&t during each round of visit. Delegates also confirmed that they each received GHS 400 on the day of the elections. Let's do a simple maths - 300*200000 delegates for one round of campaign visit =GHS 60,000,000.00. Election day- 400*200000=GHS 80,000,000.00. These two alone cost around GHS 140,000,000. Forget about the super delegates, the many people who are following him etc. In this economy that even pensioners and investors lost part of their principals, how did Bawumia raise these monies and spend to only become a flagbearer?
@Asuming Unlike some other presidential aspirants, Bawumia is not known to be a ***barred word*** or corrupt. Don't just write anything because you have a platform to do so
This guy Takum is totally funny paa. You Takum you are more than funny. You are capital funny. Those people came president tell us what company they has. Did they have even one company or hired single person before. Takum tell us do you have company? How many company do you have in Ghana. You just typing what come from your head. Funny guy. Do you think your NDC will win 2024 election. Mark it down if your NDC will win 2024. Your party NDC will totally loose 2024 election.
Who's going to sponsor for the campaign ? you guys just want to spend this man's money cos of your selfish gains. Those who want him to run should as well pay for it.
***barred word***
@Takum, I think you're blowing issues out of proportion. It's okay if you feel Ken is not a right person to lead Ghana but going along that tangent is not healthy, your points are arguable, and it could also open the tap of criticism of equal measure against your candidate Bawumia. I may agree with you that Ghana has found herself in a serious predicament, otherwise, why would Bawumia be presented for elections after all the demonstrated incompetence, dishonesty, stealing resources to buy elections etc.
Ken for President? A very corrupt and temperamental illiterate who will arbitrarily throw opponents into jail or use state resources to murder them. Those saying he created jobs need to understand Ken's companies only thrive when NPP is in power. He balloons government contracts to give impression his companies are doing well. Competence for President is based on number of people your companies have employed then Elon Musk should be President of the World. Ghanians are gullible people who are easily deceived. This Ken guy asking for government contracts worth usd500million to step aside for Bawumia, what kind of greed is this? He will sell Ghana and share the money among his numerous concubines and children. Ghanaians are not discerning at all
Calling on Kennedy to contest as Independent may satisfy your desire, but can he win? I cannot see a situation where NDC supporters will not vote for Mr. Mahama. So, Kennedy will be contesting for NPP votes. Since Alan is already contesting for the same votes, it means Bawumia will and cannot win if Alan and Kennedy go independent. The bad thing for Alan and Kennedy after the 2024 elections is that the two cannot come back to the NPP to contest for flag-bearer in 2028. Care must be exercised when calling for what may be appealing now. People should look beyond today, please.
He is saying so to be relevant. If Ken doesn't run, he will not get his CHOP-CHOP! SIMPLICITA! He has NO love for anyone, it is PURELY CHOP-CHOP matter!
***barred word***....This is not the rules of the game. it is below the belt....shameful. They want Ken Agyapong's money as they know that some are still there to chop....hahaha
