There are several things that vie for Latif Batalima Abubakar’s attention on daily basis though many who know him fairly well usually assume that his priority in life is theater.

That perception may have arisen from his love for theatre which has spurred him on to produce plays - Thank God for Idiots, Romantic Nonsense, You May Kiss the Corpse, Gallery of Comedies, The Second Coming of Nkrumah What Can Come Can Come, which have caught on well with theatre lovers.

The playwright and Chief Executive Officer at Globe Productions which focuses on theatre productions, event management and content development, is back with a new play titled, Divorce or suicide.

Divorce and suicide? is a story of Mrs. Speechless Wimbledon who on the verge of dying is saved by Mr. Wimbledon. She marries him out of convenience and soon after, their marriage hit the rocks.

They seek help from Paapa, a pastor who is Mrs Wimbledon’s ex but Mr. Wimbledon is not confident he can find provide the quick solutions they need. He, therefore, secretly consults a fetish priest for ‘kpakpakpa” solutions and guess what? The fetish priest is Mrs Wimbledon’s ex too.

So will it be divorce or suicide? What will be the option? And who triggers the option?

The National Theatre will be the place to find answers to all these questions when the hilarious play is staged on Friday, September 25, and Saturday, September 26 as Adjetey Annan (Pusher), the pastor, traverses through a marital jungle.

There will be two shows each night at 4pm and 8pm.
“My formal training is not in theatre but I have learnt a lot along the way and I’m still learning,” Abubakar, who studied Project Management,” said.

Actors that have appeared in work by Globe Productions include Ecow Smith-Asante, Adjetey ‘Pusher’ Annan, Benjamin Alcorn, Ofori Bismarck, Pearl Darkey, Paul Quarcoo, Richmomd Anaman, Christopher Seveh, Leslie Wallace, William Agbeti and Alexandra Bailey.
