The much talked about ‘dumsor’ demonstration scheduled to be held by Ghana’s film makers in Kumasi today Thursday, May 28, 2015 is on currently has finally ended successfully this evening on the streets of the Ashanti regional capital.
The demonstration dubbed “Esum Aduru Yen Demo-Vigil” was to protest government’s abysmal handling of the continuous electricity crisis.
Even though the protest started on a shaky note, thousands of people dressed in red and bhave joined in to also make their voice heard.
According Hello FM Reporter Isaac Owusu the demonstration is still going on peacefully but a very heavy down pour is almost destabilizing the thousands of the demonstrators. Isaac however, added that protestors have not allowed the rains to discourage as most of them are still on streets with their wet clothes.
Some of the known faces present at the demo included executives if Film Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG), Kwadjo Nkansah Lil Win, Samuel Ofori, Michael Afrani, Joe Shortingo, Wayoosi, among others.
The protest started from the Kumasi Cultural Centre and ended at the Jubilee Park amidst heavy rain.
