The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Make-Up Ghana, Rebecca Donkor, has observed that some women have lately adopted the style of wearing loud make-up meant for red carpet ceremonies to offices.
She described that as wrong, and emphasized the need for women to seek basic professional advice in make-up artistry.
Rebecca was speaking at the recent launch of the 2018 Ghana Make-Up Awards scheduled to take place on April 28.
She explained that make-up worn to offices or workplaces should be mild. “However, it is a different case lately. Some women overdo it and it is embarrassing,” she said.
“The public gets it wrong. So you see that a celebrity has been made up and you saw her on social media, then when you are going to work, you work let’s say in the bank, you want to do a make-up and imitate what they’ve done for the celebrity. I am sorry, there are different types of make-up,” Rebecca added.
The Make-Up Ghana CEO revealed that she intends to use the awards to correct these and other problems.
This year’s awards will be part of a week-long celebration dubbed ‘Make-Up & Beauty Week’ to, among other objectives, highlight the economic impact of the Ghanaian and African make-up and beauty industries.
The activity will include a make-up fair. According to Rebecca, her outfit is putting up the fair to help educate the public on make-up artistry.
“We are inviting corporate institutions, so that if you are going to work you do mild make-up and not a loud make-up because that’s for evening events. There are bridal make-up, day make-up, make-up for the movies and celebrity make-up,” she highlighted.
