We've still got about six months to wait until the birth of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's first child.

But a forensic artist has provided his take on what their baby might look like, putting together mock-ups after studying photographs of Harry and Meghan.

Joe Mullins, who is based in Washington DC, predicts a girl would have brown eyes and black hair - while a boy would have blue eyes and brown hair. Mr Mullins, who has worked in forensics for 17 years, has previously done mock-up pictures predicting the looks of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's children.

He has insisted that his work is highly scientific, taking account of the parents' colouring, predominant genes, outstanding features and complexions. Mr Mullins trained as a graphic designer before joining the police to do both age progressions of missing children and facial reconstruction from the skull.

Speaking in 2012, he said: 'Over the years I have done lots of different celebrities. I did Jennifer Anniston and Brad Pitt when they were married. 'I have done a few of Angelina Jolie. When I did Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise I did the child as a boy, but the image actually does look a lot like Suri.

'My day job means I have acquired a skill which means it is always in the ball park. I was inspired after seeing some other versions of celebrities' children that were done.

'I remember thinking 'those things look scary. I could do something more accurate.'

Kensington Palace announced this morning that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expecting a baby in spring 2019. The newly-wed couple arrived in Sydney today ahead of a 16-day tour which will take in Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Tonga.

Harry and Meghan were wed at Windsor Castle in May and the news was announced on the eve of their first tour outside the UK and Ireland.

The Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall and Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are said to be 'delighted' for the couple.

Doria Ragland, the mother of the duchess, is 'very happy about this lovely news' and 'looks forward to welcoming her first grandchild'.
