On the 2nd of November 2018, Ghana welcomed His Royal Highnesses, Prince Charles of Wales and his wife Camilla.
A statement issued on the Prince of Wales’s website revealed that their purpose of coming to Ghana was a request on behalf of the British Government to celebrate the UK’s dynamic forward-looking partnership with the Commonwealth Nations.
Ghanaians, as usual of their nature, gave them a legendary welcoming ceremony when they visited Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at his Royal Palace, (Manyia Palace) in the Ashanti Kingdom.
But one of Ghana’s best female journalist, Nana Aba Anamoah on her Twitter handle, has expressed unhappiness relating to a post made by UK based MailOnline.
MailOnline’s publication went like;
“Camilla also watched weavers making the colourful Kente fabric used in traditional dresses and robes. And touring a pottery workshop she said it's a great art. Its brilliant, absolutely brilliant. Open their arrival in Kumasi she and Charles were treated to a colourful display by tribal chiefs at an official ‘Durbar’. In temperature in excess of 30 degrees, Charles and Camilla sat for an hour and a half as leaders of the Ashanti people paid their respects in a noisy, chaotic ceremony organised by the ruler of Kumasi...

@Joey..you sounds more id1otic than nana aba. Look at your definition of racism. B'cos they would report american's ceremonies different than ghanains amounts to racism...whaaat? The reported was just telling a true story of what happened..he/she wasn't sugar coating anything like some of your can't speak the truth in ghana. Travel and see, you will realize that everything about ghanaian culture is characterized by chaos...from our church services, traffic or driving, in our market places, stadia, funeral grounds, I mean everywhere! And is always hot, we all know. Right now it is winter here and the temperatures are in negatives all the time. So if someone is reporting high temperatures amidst chaotic scenes, it is the truth..it is what it is and the reporter is not discriminating or being racist. What has racism got to do with these? Free your mind people...if you always think whites are always against blacks or speak ill of minorities, it is a sign of mental slavery...break this barrier else you cannot learn and move forward in life..you'll always live b1ock headed in the past with prejudice...#Learntogrowup#
Come again Nana Aba! You and your group of actresses should first respect yourselves before calling for respect. Tell the girls to stop bleaching to look white, stop sleeping around with every white man in a pair of shorts and stop faking british and american accents. Everything you so-called celebrities do shows that the white man is superior us, then you turn around to ask for respect?
Well done Aba for calling them out. This news paper is well known for its racist publications.
NA "chaotic" may be unpleasant but true, as anyone who has been to a Ghanaian durbar will confirm. let us not always take offence when confronted with the truth, we would rather not see or hear. let us be more disciplined and orderly. our unsurpassable culture must be presented as such to make it appealing to all
To the M0ronic BUMS who see nothing wrong with this reportage,the word 'chaotic' means a state of confusion and disorder. Is that a description that is complementary?The ashanti king could do nothing about the temperature and I'm sure the royal couple knew temperatures will be that high at this time of the year and since we have not been told that somebody held a gun to their heads to come here I presume they came willingly. Do you think this is the way they would have reported the ceremonies that took place when Donald trump visited the UK?That is what makes them racists. The fact that they will find fault with everything associated with the African.It is not only when black people are shot that an act of racism has occurred.
i can see racism there if you cannot, how can they describe our culture as noisy and chaotic? and the temperature over 30c (which is not true)
What is racist about this post nana aba? The post was a mere vivid description of what happened and nothing else...you need to apologize. Your perception and definition of racism is f1awed and laughab1e..SMH
DOES SHE UNDERSTAND RACISM? LETS BE MINDFUL OF THE WORDS WE USE.WHAT WAS RACIST ABOUT THE ONLINE POST?. IS IT NOT FACTUAL OF OUR NOISY ENVIRONMENTS? PLEASE DO NOT MISCONSTRUED THE WORD RACISM AND BIGOTS TO THE REAL FORM OF RACISM THAT OUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS FACE IN EUROPE AND FAR AND BEYOND.
From an exposed person like Aba, her response is ***barred word***. The "Open..." instead of "Upon" can be laughed at, even though its a typo, but to describe the temperature and ceremony as "over 30 degrees....noisy, chaotic" does not make them racist. I am Ghanaian, and the most durbars or festivals are NOISY, ....and CHAOTIC if you don't understand traditions very well. Was the temperature recording false,... I mean lets add some sen.se to our commentary. Thanks to God I am well travelled and have experienced racism is so many different formats in UK, Europe, and the Americas,...and even in Ghana, meted out by Africans so don't get me wrong, but this reportage does NOT in anyway denote an iota of racism or bigotry, PLEASE. @thumbs up, you are also ***barred word***.
this lady is tough and fearless
