Kumawood actress Tracey Boakye has disclosed that she paid GHS2,000 as her contribution towards raising an amount of GHS420,000 for former President John Mahama as his filing and nomination fee.
Mr Mahama is seeking to be the flag bearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2020 elections.
The NDC, at its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on Thursday, 29 November at the party’s headquarters in Accra, resolved that all male flag bearer aspirants are expected to pay GHS400,000 as filing fee while female flag bearer-aspirants are to pay GHS200,000 and persons with disability aspiring to the same position are to pay GHS150,000.
The nomination forms are being sold at GHS20,000.
Critics, including some of the flag bearer aspirants, have slammed the “exorbitant” filing fee.
However, Ms Boakye, a staunch supporter of Mr Mahama, said on Accra100.5FM’s Ayekoo Ayekoo mid-morning show on Monday, 3 December 2018 that the filing fee “is cool”.
“I paid GHS2,000 for Mahama”, she said.
According to her, she paid on Sunday through the shortcode provided by the Mahama campaign team to help raise funds for the former President.
Meanwhile, some grassroots supporters of the NDC on Monday, 3 November 2018 queued at the former president at the Cantonments, Accra to contribute their widow’s mite towards the former president’s GHS420,000 fee.
Also, MPs4JM, a group of 96 Minority Members of Parliament who have declared their support for Mr Mahama's bid to run for the NDC flag bearer, has so far mobilised 603 pledges of GHS1,000 each towards footing the fees of Mr Mahama.
The NDC’s presidential primary is slated for 19 January 2019.
Sources close to MPs4Mahama says the group has so far raised GHS600,000 through its "Operation 420 people willing to contribute GHS1,000 for JM" campaign.

Oooh these are some of the executives of NDC agenda 2020.Eiii Herrrr John and big B0t000x, want everything Xtra Xtra Xtra Large
Start doing it because JM is coming....AM a Christian so I won't descend into gutter with you. You can call us names but JM is coming.
Nkwa---siaf////uo.....I am sorry to call names, but if NDC ever comes back to power in 2020, I will denounce my Ghana citizenship. We don't need Mahama at all. He was the worst president Ghana has ever seen. All they came to do was loot and share, and so because they can't do loot and share anymore, they are broke are crying out for comeback. May God scatter them before 2020 election comes to pass. With people like Tracey and Bukum asking for executive positions in NDC government, what kind of a country will Ghana be?
It would be the worst and unpardonable mistake for Ghanaians to vote back the corrupt and violent NDC back to power! It would be like eating back your vomit caused something poisonous you ate. Eating back that could cause your death! Ghanaians be ware!
Ndc and JM will never learn. Dumelo, Akua Donkor, Selassie Ibrahim and the likes never helped. Npp cruising to victory. JM is bringing nothing new. Same old sh1t.
