Former Black Stars player, Derek Boateng, and 34 other drivers have been arrested for violating road traffic regulations in the capital, Accra.
The drivers were arrested and charged for going above the legal city speed limit of 50 km/hr on the Olusegun Obasanjo Way and J.A. Kufour Avenue.
This swoop, which happened in the morning of Thursday, May 27, forms part of a speed limit enforcement exercise by the Accra Central Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service.
It was done in collaboration with the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) and the Bloomberg Philanthropies Initiative for Global Road Safety (BIGRS).
To determine the speed of the vehicles, a Laser Cam 4-speed detection device donated by BIGRS to the Accra Central MTTD was used for the operation.
Others who were arrested during the operation include some security personnel whose identities have not yet been disclosed.
