Pressure continues to mount on Hearts of Oak as they drew one all with Wa All Stars at the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium yesterday, throwing the league title widely open.
About seven weeks ago, the Phobians appeared to be cruising to their 20th league success until a sudden turn of events saw their 14 points lead cut to 2 points. Asante Kotoko who were earlier lying mid-table, have won five of their last six matches whilst Hearts have lost four matches and drawn twice.
The Reds will now be beaming with confidence as anything can happen in the last four matches. At the bottom of the league it is uncertain which team will be relegated except Sporting Mirren who have bid farewell to the premiership. Hearts trek to Berekum on Sunday in a must-win game whilst Kotoko also play as guests of Liberty in Accra.
Though the Phobians played a spirited game yesterday, they failed to win the game as the more determined All Stars team gave a good account of themselves. Douglas Nkrumah shot Hearts into the lead in the 40th minute but Nashiru Gafaru got the equalizer immediately after recess. Thereafter, Hearts bombarded the goal area of All Stars but failed to hit the back of the net. All Stars were resolute in defence and midfield. The Wa lads are now fifth on the league table with 37 points whilst Hearts have 46 points, two ahead of bitterest rivals Asante Kotoko. Meanwhile, Gamba All Blacks drew 2-2 against Kessben FC at the Abrankese Park.
