KickOff can reveal that a player from Mpumalanga Black Aces has tested positive for a banned substance. The City Press newspaper carried a report yesterday that a PSL player is likely to be banned for two years, or that even a lifelong ban could be imposed as the matter is deemed by Safas Raymond Hack as a serious infringement.
Upon investigation, KickOff found out that the player was tested on August 26, when Amazayoni lost 2-1 to Jomo Cosmos at the Rand Stadium and the results were sent to Safa by the SA Institute for Drug-Free Sport.
The player in question had been playing regularly, but has since missed Black Acesďż˝ last two games against Platinum Stars and Orlando Pirates.
The player wont be named in respect to Safas decision not to mention the players name until a B-sample has been done, in accordance with the players rights. However, the players name is known to KickOff.
We havent received a formal notification [from Safa] with regards to this issue and when we do, we will make a formal statement, Amazayoni PRO Thabo Moroape says.
