Ghana and Chelsea ace Michael Essien will undergo surgery on his knee in Paris on Friday.
The enforcer flew back early from the African Nations Cup last week after the injury in training with Ghana.
Blues hope Essien will return for the second leg of next month's Champions League clash with Inter Milan.
According to various sources Michael will enter a Paris hospital today to have the small tear on his meniscus repaired.
After fearing that Essien could be absent for the remainder of the season it`s come as something of a bonus to learn that the Chelsea medical team expect his absence to be somewhere between 4 to 6 weeks.
Indeed, it is hoped that Essien will return to the first team squad for the second leg of our titanic Champions League tussle with Inter Milan.
If Chelsea's chase for Premier League and Champions League honours is to be maintained then a fit again Essien will be a huge bonus.
