Didier Drogba is undergoing some post-season surgery to remove a metal plate from his arm as the departing Chelsea legend misses out on the club's tour of Thailand and Australia.
Drogba played his last game for the Barclays Premier League champions in Sunday's win over Sunderland and will now go under the knife in Barcelona with his season over.
The Chelsea striker is weighing up his options as he looks to find a new club, with a move to Major League Soccer the 37-year-old's most likely option.
He posted alongside the photo saying: 'Time to get ride of my ironman plate!!!!! Sorry I can't see my fans from Thailand and from Australia. Have fun with my people out there!!!! #Barcelona #surgery #ironman #niceoutfit'.
There had been speculation that Drogba could move to his former club Marseille, but talk of a switch to there or to Australia - where his old team-mates will fly to on Saturday night - has been dismissed by his agent.
'Since I put it on social media (that I was leaving), I was in the dressing room and I was receiving some calls from teams,' he said. 'It really showed that maybe I can still bring something to a team.
'I would never play for another English team. No disrespect to them, there are some brilliant, fantastic teams in the Premier League, but my love for this club, I can't share it with another team.'
