A leading member of the NDC, Yaw Boateng Gyan, has called on the government to restore the players' $10,000 winning bonus to enable the team to achieve its target of winning the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.
The Black Stars players recently pleaded to Ghana’s president-elect to restore their winning bonus to $10,000 as the team prepares gears up for the 2017 Nations Cup slated for Gabon.
“ This is a trophy that has eluded us for 35 years and now the coach has been charged by the nation’s football governing body to win the trophy having failed to do so in the previous edition, so why should winning bonus issue hinder our chances," he asked.
"I think we should listen to the players' appeal and pay them the said amount to ensure they put smiles on the faces of Ghanaians by winning the trophy in Gabon”.
The Black Stars saw their bonus slashed to $8000 under Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye’s tenure as sports minister.

My friend dont bring your self,do u know what $10000 mean in ghana cedis.
It was your NDC sports Minister who dropped it to $8000...
Mr Boateng Gyan, when did money become the source inspiration for our Black Stars players? The "monecracy" that is creeping in our country must be seized. This is the problem you and your NDC government created in the past in our country and that was what lead to your defeat as a hard working National Organizer of NDC and you should be learning from that lessons. Mr. Boateng, wearing the Black Stars Jersey is the biggest incentives beyond money and must be appreciated as such. Example, your nephew KPB opted for the Black Stars at the time to re-lunch his career and it worked for him by getting a contract from AC Milan. It is through this same platform Suley Muntari, Asamoah Gyan, Agyeman Badu, Andre Ayew etc had the opportunity to play for their dream teams, leagues and made huge sums of money from their contracts. This are the sorts of inspiration I expect the Management of the Black Stars to instill in our young players and not meager $2000 difference in their bonuses. Let them know there is more for them to play for instead of money. Tell them putting smiles in our faces as Ghanaians is way below what they get playing better in the AFCON and inspire them to do so instead of money. I get sad hearing the GFA advocate for money Black Stars instead focusing on their career opportunities on utilizing such a big platform. Please lets learn from the past and make it necessary to instill the right sense of affection and aspirations in our young once and for all. There is more beyond today and that should be inspire in our children. Talking about Nyantakyi's remarks about competence instead of local governance selection of players makes me terribly sad. If it is only competence then I believe he is a failure. If these so called competent foreign based players were not given the opportunity as local based players, would they have had the opportunity you now to boast about them? Don't you see that you are not inspiring the future generation and your own players at Wa All Stars adopting that competence approach? Very sad day for Ghana. You guys are the problem of our football and you must do away with such thinking. It is neo-colonist thinking. shame on you.
