Former Black Stars captain and coach James Kwesi Appiah is set to return to manage the Black Stars after two years, according to credible sources within the Ghana FA and the Sports Ministry.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports have given strong indications about their willingness to see the return of the 2014 Ghana World Cup coach who now plies his trade in Sudan with Khartoum Al Watani.
The government’s representative on the search team for Black Stars coach has gone public over the ministry’s choice for the vacant position, affirming that it is their wish to see the FA appoint an indigenous coach.
Dr Owusu-Ansah, a former Director of Sports Development who is returning to the ministry as a special advisor to the minister, the MOYS will only give in to employing a foreign coach in the “unlikiley event that the search team does not find a qualified and competent local coach”.
Appiah , according to sources, has been convinced to apply for the job, which he did last week, and could be set to meet the Ghana FA’s interviewing panel in the coming weeks as he is deemed the most competent indigenous coach readily availbale .
Meanwhile, the former Asante Kotoko man has in the past weeks, held several meetings with the board of his Sudanese club to discuss his future with the club after being given assurances from powerful quarters.
The GFA’s six-member committee will meet later this week to consider the several applications which includes two other local coaches, Bashiru Hayford and Abdul Razak.
Over 60 foreign coaches are reported to have applied for the job as the Black Stars Coach.

60 foreign coaches? wow! I am for a Ghanaian coach
i wish they bring HARVES
Is it going to change anything? Not really. The outcome will be the same. Corruption and bribery is the norm. Disrespect to black coaches by so called foreign based players dents a psychological effect on the whole team and the coach. No solution in sight. No strategy. ***barred word*** politics and corruption has corrupted the national team just like any other institution in Ghana. No dedication and commitment. No team work. Inside fighting and confusion is the hall mark of the stars.Poor sports administration bereft of corrupt men and women. The outcome will be the same . Dissapointment.
I WILL BE SO EXCITED IF KWASI APPIAH IS RESTORED AS THE BLACK STAR COACH BUT THE BIG QUESTION IS THAT IS GOING TO GET ON WELL WITH ABEDI PEELE'S ABI AND POPO. WE ALL LIVE TO SEE.
Go for Harve instead of experiments
