Ghana has petitioned Fifa for a replay of Saturday's World Cup qualifier against Uganda after South African referee Daniel Bennett disallowed a "perfect goal", the football association has announced.
The matchday five fixture at the Mandela National Stadium in Kampala ended in a 0-0 draw, all but ending the Black Stars' hopes of reaching a fourth successive World Cup.
But the game was marred with controversies, not only by the poor pitch, as Raphael Dwamena's injury time goal from a rebound was ruled out for offside, although television replays showed the FC Zurich striker in good position when Richmond Boakye-Yiadom let out a ferocious shot from outside the box.
Below is a statement from the GFA on the protest
Ghana FA lodges FIFA protests over referee in World Cup qualifier in Uganda
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has lodged a protest with FIFA over the performance of referee Daniel Bennett and his assistants Eldrick Adelaide and Steve Marie during the 2018 World Cup qualifier against Uganda on Saturday.
The GFA filed the protest to football's world governing body, FIFA, immediately after the match at the Mandela National Stadium in Kampala.
Mr Bennett and assistants denied Ghana a perfect goal in the 93rd minute with television replays showing that it was a perfect goal.
The referee also denied Ghana a penalty earlier in the second-half when Ghana midfielder Frank Acheampong was brought down in the box.
These and several other decisions by the match officials have left the GFA with no option than to ask FIFA to examine their performances.
The GFA respectfully asked FIFA to consider the possibility of a replay in order to serve the ends of justice without fear or favour.

Kevin Prince Boateng questioned Kwasi Appiah's decision to start the Ghana v USA match at the 2014 World Cup with Jordan Ayew and Christian Atsu. Any team with a conscience, that wants to grow, would have used the players who sacrificed to give Ghana glory in 2010 in a crucial match like the opening game of the 2014 World Cup. Kwadwo Asamoah, KP Boateng and Jordan Ayew who held the midfield and gave the Black Stars the best performance in its history were dropped for Atsu and Jordan to start games. Since that evening in Brazil in 2014, Ghana has not gained any glory. Clearly, those two players are not helping the team. We must also not forget that when the team was left to Atsu and Jordan in the 2012/2013 World Cup qualifiers, we nearly failed to qualify until they were benched. So Kwasi Appiah must look back and reconcile with KP Boateng. Boateng told the truth! Atsu's entry into the team is questionable. Jordan's entry into the team is also quesitonable! Although they are good players, they do not fit into any game plan any serious coach can formulate.
This protest will not go anywhere. There is too much politics in CAF. What we need to do is to probe our system and ask why Jordan Ayew and Christian Atsu ALWAYS get to start games. Since Atsu began to start games, Dede Ayew's role in the team is unclear. He has to play in defensive midfield, which we all know is not his strongest area. And Atsu is not as gifted as Dede in the right wing of midfield. Jordan and Asamoah Gyan work against each other. And we all know it. Instead of blaming this referee, let us ask ourselves why our forward line is always failing us with Jordan and Atsu starting games. They are good players. However, having them on the field with the established players - Asamoah Gyan and Dede Ayew only destroys the game.
thats true in the right direction to ask for is deem for you. FIFA should investigate the performances of this so called referee to ascertained the true and let peace prevailed.
At least for once Ghana has shown the will to be serious. The protest is justified considering what transpired on the pitch in Kampala. It seems the referee and his assistants had warped intentions for the match. This regional collaborations whereby Southern Africans view East Africans as neighbours and hence will want to help one another when the need arises should be discouraged. An erring referee must be sanctioned to serve as a deterrent and the petition is the first step. I hope FIFA treats it with the urgency and fairness it deserves. Well done GFA
i have never been so happy to see Ghana lose like this Saturday. Most people in the country is thanking God that we lost. After all no huge bonuses for some greedy bastards. We can use the oil money to solely further the free s.h.s agenda.
We the citizens of Ghana will like to express our sincere thanks to the almighty for protecting us for this money wasting endeavor. Those who planned to fly money to Russia will have to think again. GFA officials who were planning on buying a house or two from the world cup will have to adjust their dreams. For God is truly not a Nigerian. He will surely not allow Ghanaians to be cheated again.
WHY REPLAY?. THEY SHOULD CREDIT US WITH 3 POINTS AND 2 GOALS
What am I reading!!!!!! Did Asamoah Gyan say Ghana is weak in protesting because everything 'Fama Nyame' Oooooo Bra... pls you are alive because of Fama Nyame
Why is Ghana serious about qualifying to world cup? Is it because of the appearance fee or we want to go and perform? The coach together with the black star players should want Morocco vs Garbon and see how serious team plays. Even if Ghana is given the 3 maximum points, we cannot still qualify for the world cup due to Egypt's 2-1 vitory over Congo today, 8th October, 2017. With corrupt GFA officials in Ghana, how can Ghana qualifies to world cup whilst Ghana Premier league is among the poorest in Africa? If Ghana Football Association is complaining about poor officiating and hence reply, what has Ghana Football Association done about Ghana Premier league match day 26 between Accra Hearts of Oak and Dormaa Aduana Stars which was officiated by Referee Prince Amoah at Accra Sports Stadium? Look at that poor performance exhibited by the referee but as of now no punishment has been meted out to the referee. But you want FIFA to allow replay of Ghana's world cup qualifier match! Did you call for replay of Hearts vs Aduana after poor performance by the referee? ***barred word***! Ghana is not serious. FIFA must ban and fine Ghana for sending that peptition.
Am very much surprise about the GFA boss and his gurus petitioning FIFA seeking for FAIR PLAY.Whiles with the domestic league they decide which team should be relegated and promoted. If you surport their corrupt activities you will stay in the league but if NOT then you will be out of it. If you like feature Buffon,Marcelo, Alba,Sergio Ramos,Marcherano,Iniesta,Ronaldo,Isco,Suarez,Messi and Nyaman if Kwesi Nyantekyie say no promotion for your team don't challenge him. If you think am lying ask Alhaji Grusa,Amakye Dede,Odi Ahienkian.
