The Faisal Babies bankroller insists the decision to force the embattled administrator to early retirement is too harsh.

King Faisal FC president Alhaji Karim Grunsah believes Fifa's lifetime ban on former Ghana Football Association president Kwesi Nyantakyi from all football-related activities is 'too harsh'.

The 50-year-old, who was also Fifa Council member and Caf's first vice president, suffered the major blow on Tuesday, after almost four months since he was captured in an investigative documentary by Ghanaian journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas engaging in corrupt and bribery activities.

Although, he willingly resigned from all positions he was holding to allow investigations to proceed, he is now forced into early retirement from activities related to the sport.

"I strongly believe that the decision from the adjudicatory chamber of the independent Ethics Committee is too harsh. A lot of people have done worse than what Kwesi Nyantakyi got himself into but weren't given such punishments," Grunsah told Goal.

"I believe Nyantakyi must appeal this decision because it is possible that it can be overturned or the punishment reduced to a certain number of years.

"Another surprise was when I heard that he should pay a fine of almost $500,000 after all these troubles. I'm not happy with what has happened to him and will advise that he sees his lawyers as soon as possible," he added.

Nyantakyi, who is currently in the United States with his family, was initially handed a provisional 90-day ban which was extended for 45 days.

Goal understands that some businessmen have already shown interest in purchasing former Ghana Premier League champions Wa All Stars owned by Nyantakyi.
