Nigeria struggled to secure a victory in their opening 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against lowly-ranked Lesotho.
The Super Eagles were held to a 1-1 draw against a lowly-ranked Lesotho side in Group C at Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Thursday evening.
The shock result has ended Nigeria’s four-match winning streak against their visitors, who managed to hold on to secure a vital point in their World Cup qualifying journey.
Nigeria’s Ajayi and Lesotho’s Motlomelo Mkhwanazi were the top performers for their respective nations with a goal apiece from one shot on target throughout the match.
