Ghana coach Chris Hughton and his backroom staff have been left frustrated and livid over the country's poor camping facilities - leaving players angry over the sorry state of the training pitch and general conditions in the camp, just 11 days before the start of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d'Ivoire.
The controversial U-turn in change of camping base from South Africa to homeland is now beginning to bite amid huge disquiet within the group.
The Black Stars commenced their nine-day camp in Kumasi at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex, deviating from their initial plan to train at the Baba Yara Stadium.
Regrettably, upon inspection of the Baba Yara Stadium's pitch, deemed essential for the first training session, the technical staff found it unsuitable.
This unexpected setback prompted concerns, as the current state of the field was deemed unplayable.
The team's preparations for the prestigious tournament faced a hurdle, forcing adjustments to their training location.
Despite the setback, the Black Stars remain dedicated to their goal of preparing for the Africa Cup of Nations.
The challenges posed by the suboptimal pitch conditions have, however, heightened the technical team's disappointment, emphasizing the importance of suitable training environments for optimal performance in the upcoming tournament.

Well said, but an alternative have been found, case close. We expect the black stars to lift the AFCON trophy this time round. The last time Ghana won the cup was in Libya in 1982 i.e. 41 years ago. This is an indictment on the current players. Government cannot continue to spend huge sums of scarce resources on a small group of people who don't deliver . Check the monthly salary of the coach in addition to some freebies he's entitled to . If they fail to win the cup in Ivory Coast, Ghana will have to take leave from AFCON for some number of years for a new crop of players to take over. Over 90% of the players who won the AFCON for Ghana in 1963, 1965, 1978 and 1982 were local players. Today we have almost the entire team playing in European leagues and yet still they can't make any meaningful impact by Winn tournaments for Ghana. This cannot be allowed to continue. At least let Akuffo Addo also go home and say if he has failed good people of Ghana but he won AFCON for Ghana after 41 years in the wilderness. It was only Nkrumah (1963 and 1965) Colonel Acheampong ( 1978, host and win) and Rawlings (1982) who had the opportunity of touching the AFCON trophy. One civilian, two soldiers. If Rawlings can hurriedly prepare local players one month after the 31 December, 1981 coup to go to Libya and win the cup/ trophy, how come Ghana's pre 2016 "show boy" Akuffo Addo can't do same?
After 4 world cup appearances you are still training at a private man's facility. GFA should be ashamed of itself
GFA, Na who cause am?
