Government owes power producers and the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) over GH¢3 billion.

The amount comprises GH¢2.2 billion owed by Volta River Authority (VRA) to its lenders and a ‘legacy debt’ of GH¢728 million owed ECG by government.
