Airport Security Strike...The Inside Story: What Went Wrong???? BNI Implicated

Early on Wednesday morning, security personnel working at the Kotoka International Airport declared a sit down strike leaving scores of passengers stranded as reported by Peacefmonline.com. The Airport security guards reportedly locked up all exit points at the airport, both the arrival and the departure halls thus preventing passengers from boarding planes or exiting the airport. All domestic flights were temporarily suspended, leading to near-chaos at the airport. Clearly riled by the incident, some passengers took the law into their own hands and reportedly vandalized property at the airport, breaking glasses and windows in protest against their being held hostage. It took the timely arrival of personnel drawn from the police anti-riot squad to calm matters. But what led to this unfortunate incident? Peacefmonline.com investigations reveal that officials of the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) and the police attempted to pick up a senior member of the Airport security, Bernard Henaku, who allegedly misconducted himself and later got involved in a war of words with operatives from the National Security when President Mills arrived from his trip to the USA on Tuesday night but it degenerated into a free-for-all-fight with airport security. He was said to have tried meandering his way through the President's security team at the Airport last night. The Police personnel had come to effect the arrest of one of the airport security officials who is reported to have misconducted himself during Mills arrival but other airport security officials allegedly resisted the arrest. Henakus arrest by the BNI provoked the rest of the security personnel at the KIA, who in solidarity with him, allegedly resisted the arrest, and later embarked on a temporary strike which resulted in hundreds of passengers getting stranded.
