Biometric: Hoodlums Pummel NPPs Ursula Owusu, Abu Jinapor

The NPP parliamentary candidate for Ablekuma South, Ursula Owusu, and Abu Jinapor, an aide to Nana Akufo-Addo, the partys flagbearer, were subjected to severe physical assault by some heavily built men during a tour of some registration centres in the Odododiodoo Constituency on Wednesday. The incident was said to have occurred at a registration centre known as Tarzan in the constituency. Ursula Owusu, who confirmed the incident in an interview with Auntie Afua Konadu on her "Wo Haw Ne Sen" programme on PeaceFM, said they had visited the consistency to canvass votes and encourage more eligible voters to go out and register, since they had been reports that the electorates were afraid to undergo the process because of harassment and other forms of intimidation they were faced with. She recounted that upon arrival at the centre, some macho men, without any provocation attacked them with broken bottles and stones injuring her in the process. It is as if the name Ursula scares them...we had just ended our conversation with some of the residents and market women encouraging to go ahead and register and not to be daunted...we also went to speak to the electoral officers regarding how the process was transpiring, when all of a sudden these macho men brandishing broken bottles and stones attacked us without any provocation...they assaulted us and pushed us out of the area...They accuse the NPP of being desperate for power but just look at their actions. Interesting....If by their conduct they claim they are not desperate for power, i wonder what desperation really is," she narrated. The two, who are nursing their injuries, have since reported the incident to the Central Police Station in Accra.
