Frank Tackie To Speak At Sports Expo, 2012

Developing Multi - Faceted, Viable Sports Infrastructure For African Nations� will be one of the key topics to be delivered at the forthcoming 4th Biennial Accra Sports Expo, 2012 to be held in Accra from Tuesday, 15th to Friday, 18th May, 2012. The speaker on the interesting topic will be Mr. Frank Tackie, an Urban Planner & Housing Expert who is also the President of Ghana institute of Planners. Frank Tackie has had over 30 years of professional experience in urban planning and housing in countries of Africa, Asia and the Caribbean, notably Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Jamaica, Guyana, Barbados, Sierra Leone and Liberia. He was a former Head of Planning, Design & Building Division of the Building & Road Research Institute (BRRI) Ghana (1983-1989) and a Special Advisor to the Executive Director of UNCHS (Habitats), Nairobi Kenya where he undertook numerous projects in promoting low-income housing and promotion of appropriate low-income building technologies. The Sports Expo 2012 will focus on ways of leveraging all facets of sports business principles and practices to develop and globally promote Africa�s Sports Talents while the Expo Conference will seek to reach consensus on a designed roadmap to assist African nations, governments, sports policy makers, administrators and performers re-think sports as an emerging industry with all its attendant benefits to grow African economies. Mr. Frank Tackie has since 1989 been the Chief Executive of The Consortium - a consulting firm of Architects, Planners and Engineers; Comptran Engineering and Planning Associates -responsible for managing a variety of multi-disciplinary projects, and also lead consultants on urban planning, urban renewal and housing. A product of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology (KNUST), Kumasi-Ghana (1974) where he obtained the BSc-Urban Planning Certificate; MPhil (Architecture & Housing), University of Newcastle Upon Tyre, England (1979) and Certificate-Project Management from MDPI, Accra Ghana (1980). Mr. Tackie, currently an External Examiner, College of Architecture and Planning at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, is also the Chairman of the Ministerial Advisory Committee on Town Planning, Ministry of Environment, Science & Technology, Ghana.
