Who Is Telling The Truth; John Mahama Or The Cuban Government?

The Alliance for Accountable Governance, finds the attempt made by leading members of the Mills Mahama government to shroud in obscurity the truth with regards to the training of 250 Ghanaians in Cuba very disturbing. Our fear is heightened by comments made by Vice president John Mahama through his spokesperson as against the position of the Cuban embassy in Ghana. It will be recalled that on Citi fms eye witness news of Tuesday 29th May, 2012, Mr. John Jinapor, accused the Cuban embassy of perpetrating falsehood with regards to the claim made by the Cuban government (Cuba Embassy in Ghana) that it had awarded scholarships to 250 Ghanaians to study in Cuba. This controversy has been stirred in the wake of governments claim to be sponsoring the program as against the Cuban governments claim of providing scholarships. Cuban government would provide scholarship for all the 250 students, who were selected from deprived communities throughout the country and would be ready to come back and serve those communities on completion. http://www.cubadiplomatica.cu/ghana/EN/BilateralRelations/tabid/17280/ctl/Details/mid/27048/ItemID/16365/Default.aspx In furtherance to the above, Vice President in a send off party for the 250 students, urged them to conduct themselves well to encourage the Cuban government to sponsor more Ghanaians in the coming years Source:(http://www.cubadiplomatica.cu/ghana/EN/BilateralRelations/tabid/17280/ctl/Details/mid/27048/ItemID/16365/Default.aspx). Against this background, AFAG is left with no option but to press home for the truth on behalf of the Ghanaian taxpayer. Meanwhile AFAG wishes to know why a colossal amount of Ghc28m has been allocated under 2011/2012 budget to only 200 Cuban medical doctors annually under the Revised Cuban Agreement.
