The construction of the official residence of former President Jerry John Rawlings and his family is progressing steadily. When the Times visited the site near the Ridge Hospital in Accra yesterday, artisans were seen busily at work. CONSAR Limited, a leading building and civil construction firm, are the contractors on the project, which started almost a year ago, and is currently at the roofing stage.The building still has its unique design, with some features added to it.Fire gutted the former first family�s house, on Valentine Day, February 14, 2010. The family has occupied the building for over three decades.According to the contractors, the project is over 70 percent complete, and they are sure the works would be completed and furnished by October, for the former first family, who are now putting up elsewhere, to move in. Sources in government indicated to the Times that the government is determined to have the project completed in time, to enable the Rawlings to move in.
