NDC Targets 10 Seats

THE RULING National Democratic Congress (NDC) is hoping to annex a minimum of ten parliamentary seats in the Ashanti region which is the strongest hold of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the December general elections. The party is also targeting 30 percent of votes from the region in the presidential elections to help the Mills administration extend its stay in power with the Better Ghana Agenda for four more years. Joseph Yammin, NDC Secretary in the region who made the disclosure said the party would surely maintain its three seats in the region and win an additional seven. The NDC currently holds the Asawase, Ejura/Sekyeredumase and New Edubiase constituencies in the Ashanti region. The NDC scribe was speaking exclusively to DAILY GUIDE in his office minutes after a party loyalist in Kumasi, Enyo Kwasi Lotsu presented three dell computers and three HP printers worth GH4,800 to aid the partys campaign. Asked if the NDC could attain this feat considering the NPPs might in the region, Yammin who would not name the seven targeted seats said it is a done deal. Sounding confident, he said winning a battle is not based on how large ones army is. He said the NDC has a sophisticated strategy that would ensure victory for the party. During the presentation, Yammin noted the items would help the NDC gather and store data during the campaign process especially as the impending polls would be ICT based. He praised the donor for his timely assistance to the party, urging other party loyalists in the country to support the NDC both in cash and kind, deflating assertions that the ruling party was financially sound and therefore does not need help. Mr. Lotsu who is an NDC member at Kwadaso said he hopes the presentation would help the party campaign effectively and win more votes to retain political power in December. He entreated other members of the NDC across the country to emulate his example by presenting their widows mite towards the partys campaign activities.
