NPP Suspends Chairman

The Upper East Regional Executives of the New Patriotic Party have suspended the Pusiga constituency chairman of the party, Seidu Mahamadu, for his alleged involvement in a grand scheme to get some NPP members and functionaries to covertly campaign for the parliamentary candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for Pusiga, Hajia Laadi Ayii Ayamba. A regional executive of the NPP told DAILY GUIDE that Seidu Mahamadu was suspended to give way for uninterrupted investigations into allegations that he condoned activities of an Electoral Area Coordinator, Iddrisu Kadri and allegedly collected an amount of GH2,250 from the NDCs parliamentary candidate for Pusiga with the promise of campaigning for her ahead the December elections. The alleged scheme came to the attention of members of the New Patriotic Party in the Pusiga and the regional level, for which reason a committee was set up at the Constituency level to look into the matter. After their investigations it was reported that the Pusiga Constituency Chairman of the NPP, Seidu Mahamadu was accused by Iddrisu Kadri of knowing about plans to campaign for the NDC candidate instead of the New Patriotic party candidate, Mohammed Imoro Asoko. Some die-hard NPP members, who spoke to DAILY GUIDE over the issue, said if the incident really happened, it would be an unfortunate and unpatriotic act, but added that the Chairman and the Electoral Area Coordinator might have done so because do not trust the NPP parliamentary Candidate, who they said left the country after his election. However the NDC parliamentary candidate, Hajia Lardi Ayii Ayamba, told DAILY GUIDE that persons from some communities and the NPP promised to support her in the campaign. She noted emphatically that she does not remember ever giving that amount of money to lure people to campaign for her.
