NACOB Executive Director Proposes Severer Sentences For Drug Barons

Today marks International Day against Drug Abuse and illicit Trafficking. The day serves as a reminder of the goals agreed to by member states of creating an international society free of drugs. The Executive Director of NACOB, Yaw Akrasi Sarpong, says what is important is for government to invest a percentage of the GDP in dealing with illicit drugs completely. As today marks International Day against Drug Abuse and illicit Trafficking, the Executive Director of NACOB, Yaw Akrasi Sarpong, has proposed severer sentences for drug barons. This, according to him, will put fear into those who find themselves in that activity. Mr Akrasi Sarpong spoke to Radio Ghana in Accra on the sidelines of the 22nd Meeting of Heads of National Drug Law Enforcement Agencies, Africa. He said those who are involved in drug trade will be dealt with at the appropriate time. Mr Akrasi Sarpong called for effective collaboration between the police and NACOB to clamp down on drug barons.
