Boy, 7, Struck To Death By Thunder

A 7-year-old boy, Sumaila Akubbila, has been struck dead by thunder in the Garu Timpane District in the Upper East Region. This is the second time in less than one week that the area has recorded such an incident. The latest incident occurred last night during a heavy downpour. This brings to four the total number of deaths through thunder strikes. XYZ News reporter in the Upper East Region, Musah Lansa narrated that the young boy was sitting with his father in their compound when the thunder struck killing only the boy. Sumaila and his father were sitting in their compound when the rains started at about 5pm. In the course of the rain he was struck together with his father but his 36-year-old father survived. Meanwhile, some traditionalists in the community say they fear some rituals have not been performed which has angered the gods leading to the spontaneous lightning and thunder strikes in the land.
