KUMASI MAYOR Samuel Sarpong has referred to Dr. Josiah Aryeh of the newly formed National Democratic Party (NDP) as a traitor who the NPP once bought with money while he was a leading member of the NDC. �Dr. Josiah Aryeh when he was the NDC General Secretary some years back allowed himself to be bought by the then ruling NPP with money,� the Kumasi Mayor alleged, amid chants from NDC faithful present. Mr. Sarpong who was addressing hundreds of NDC supporters at the Kwadaso constituency in Kumasi Saturday during a clean-up exercise and free medical screening, observed that with characters like Dr. Aryeh leading the NDP, the new political party, an offshoot of the ruling NDC was bound to fail. He consequently called on all NDC faithful across the country not be worried about the NDP because �this new party can�t hurt the NDC.� He claimed Dr. Aryeh finally was booted out of the NDC when his secret deal with the NPP aimed at bringing down the NDC was exposed. Mr. Sarpong described the formation of the NDP as a small test for the NDC which the ruling political party was mature and experienced enough to overcome. He predicted the party would win the impending elections hands down to shame their enemies and critics who were intentionally refusing to see the good deeds of the current government. Organized by NDC executives in the constituency, the highly patronized event was geared towards marketing the NDC to the Kwadaso electorate. Mr. Sarpong continued that the NDC would rely on President Mills� impressive work during his first term to woo the electorate, notably floating voters. According to the Kumasi Mayor, floating votes would be crucial to the political party that would emerge victorious, urging the NDC to target floating voters during their campaigns. Touching on development in Kumasi, he said the city had witnessed 178 landmark projects spanning a school, hospital, water and other projects since the NDC administration came to power. Mr. Sarpong claimed no other government had achieved what the Mills government had in less than four years in office. He therefore entreated the electorate to renew the mandate of the NDC government to ensure continuation of the Better Ghana Agenda, warning that a change in government could prove disastrous. Mr. Sarpong who frowned on the politics of insults charged NDC members to campaign based on the Mills government�s achievements, adding the NDC would certainly retain power to lead Ghana to the Promised Land.
