FONKAR Seeks Rawlings Approval To Join NDP

Leaders of the Friends of Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings (FONKAR) are planning to meet the former President, Jerry John Rawlings, to seek his approval to join the newly created National Democratic Party (NDP). In an interview with Citi News, a leading member of the group, Ernest Owusu-Bempah revealed that FONKARs national and regional executives will be meeting with the former President because the new party was formed based on his ideals. I can tell you on authority we the FONKAR leadership will be calling on the former President to seek his blessing and definitely at the end of the day we will join forces with the new party, he said. At the end of the day we are looking at the values and principles of the new party that promises to rekindle the ideals and vision of Jerry John Rawlings - probity, accountability and social justice which is the bedrock of the NDC. He claimed some people at the Presidency are doing everything possible to stop the new party from contesting the December general elections. The Mills administration is panicking over the creation of the new party and this clearly shows the character traits of the Mills administration and that they are desperate, corrupt and they cannot pass the probity and accountability test. Owusu-Bempah added: They are acting like a wounded lion craving for a safe haven; we have been waiting all these years for certain mistakes by the Mills administration to be corrected and certain group of people because of their selfish and parochial interest, thought they could go out there and vilify the former President but their actions are catching up with them.
