Aide to the Rawlingses, Kofi Adams has denied media reports that former President Jerry Rawlings conferred with President J.E.A Mills in Equatorial Guinea under the aegis of that country's President, His Excellency Teodoro Obiang Nguama Mbasogo, ostensibly to smoke the peace pipe. According to him, information at his disposal clearly indicates that there was never any meeting between the two in E.Quinea. The Daily Guide newspaper, in its Monday, July 16 publication, reported that President Mills has moved to the international arena, soliciting support from international figures to broker peace with the NDC founder. The newspaper further published that President Mills held an unplanned and unannounced meeting with the former president. But speaking in an interview with Kwami Sefa Kayi on PeaceFM's "Kokrokoo" Morning Show, the spokesperson for the Rawlingses said though the NDC founder was in Bata, the home country of President Mbasogo, he (Rawlings) was only honouring an official invite thrown his way. "The former President was officially invited together with the Surinam leader by President Mbasogo...they did not meet with President Mills for any discussion in Equatorial Quinea...I'm not sure President Mills was even in that country. If he was there, it might have been after the former First Family had left...," Kofi Adams said. Meanwhile, ex-president Rawlings is in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia for an African Union summit as the AU Special Envoy to Somalia. He is expected back home on Tuesday.
