BARELY A day after the incarceration of two armed robbers who shot and killed an Italian investor, three others, Musah Mohammed, Kofi Yeboah and Kwame Owusu, have been sentenced to 100 years� imprisonment by an Accra Circuit court. The convicts reportedly used a knife to attack a tailor at Kasoa and robbed him of his valuables including two mobile phones and cash of GH� 72.00. The convicts, Musah Mohammed, Kofi Yeboah and Kwame Owusu, who admitted to robbing the tailor when they appeared before the court presided over by Francis Obiri, will serve 25, 50 and 25 jail terms respectively. The trial judge convicted them on their own plea. They were charged with two counts of conspiracy to commit crime and robbery. Musah Mohammed, Kofi Yeboah and Kwame Owusu received five years, 10 years and five years respectively for conspiracy. On the robbery charge, they had 25, 50 and 25 years respectively. The sentences are to run concurrently. A fourth accused person, Adams Sifiw, pleaded not guilty to a charge of dishonestly receiving and was remanded to re-appear on July 31. Superintendent Kofi Blagodzi, presenting the facts, stated that all the accused persons lived at Kokomba Market, a suburb of Accra. He indicated that on July 8, 2012, the complainant, who had closed from work and was going home, on reaching the Kwame Nkrumah Foot Bridge at about 2:30am, was attacked by the three convicts together with one Ibrahim, now at large. They ordered him to bring all his belongings. The complainant, for fear of his life, complied with their orders and gave them his two mobile phones valued at GH�60.00 and GH�80.00 respectively and cash of GH�72.00. The complainant afterwards pleaded with them to give him GH�1.00 to pay for his transportation back home. Witnesses who saw the accused persons robbing the victim rushed to the scene but the robbers took to their heels. Musah, who was unlucky, was arrested and the mobile phone and cash of GH�5.00 were retrieved from him. He was subsequently handed over to the police. According to the prosecutor, during interrogation, Musah admitted to the offence and mentioned the two others and Ibrahim as his accomplices. He therefore led police to the hideouts of his friends and they were arrested. Owusu reportedly informed the police that he sold one of the phones to Adams, a trader, at a cost of GH�8.00 so Adams was picked up by the police. Supt Blagodzi said the police retrieved the complainant�s Tigo SIM card, knife, pliers and a pair of scissors from Yeboah when his room was searched.
