The GhC 2.6 billion supplementary budget to Parliament has run into a potentially crippling problem as Minority MPs are pushing for the immediate withdrawal of the document.
The issue came up after the government side confirmed that it had noticed errors in the budget statement that the Minister of Finance, Dr Kwabena Duffuor, laid before the House on Wednesday.
However, according to Citi News� Parliamentary Correspondent, Richard Sky, the Majority is putting up a brave fight in the Chamber to save the GhC 2 billion budget.
During his presentation, Dr Duffuor said Ghana has attained the highest Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in Africa and the world in general due to the dynamism and prudent fiscal decisions being taken by the Mills-led government.
According to the Minister, the current non oil GDP of 7.6 percent is a testament of the effectiveness of government to improve on the lot of Ghanaians.
Announcing the supplementary budget and a review of the economy for the past seven months in Parliament, Dr Duffuor noted that the economy is healthy despite the numerous economic challenges the country has had to grapple with.
�The Prudent Monetary policy of the Central Bank has led to the stability of the exchange rate of the national currency, reduction in inflation rate to 8.6 percent against the projected target of 9.6 percent,� said Dr Duffuor.
The Finance Minister also noted that the numerous economic decisions and policies had resulted in sustaining a single digit inflationary trend over 24 months.
