Ursula Mocks Fritz Baffour

LEADING MEMBER of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ursula Owusu who is seeking to unseat Information Minister, Fritz Baffour as Member of Parliament (MP) for the Ablekuma South constituency in the Greater Accra region is making an issue out of the latters emcee gaffe. On Monday, the minister emceed a press conference at the ministry at which he introduced one of his two deputies and the much younger, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa as the one to address the event. This came as a surprise to many, including journalists who attended the programme in view of the fact that apart from the fact that Fritz was the substantive minister, he was a senior to Ablakwa, an event that has exposed him to massive ridicule and condemnation. I thought when he was taken there, he was going to work to make us proud in Ablekuma South; not knowing he was going to become an emcee; because he is a comedian, he has written a comedy in which Ablakwa is the star actor and he Fritz Baffour is the director of the comedy and turned himself into an emcee introducing Ablakwa the star, she told party faithful at Chorkor Tuesday evening during a mini rally. This single act of omission according to Ursula indeed gave credence to the belief that he was not up to the task, an incident she said proved him to be a real comedian who should be voted out come December 7, 2012 since he was embarrassing his constituents. Ursula said she thought when Fritz Baffour was posted to the information ministry he was going to shine and make his constituents proud. Instead she said, he had rather turned himself what she described as a boy-boy (messenger) for his two deputies who were young enough to be his children. I thought he was going to the ministry to work and show the young ones that he is a mature person but I didnt know he was going to become a messenger for his deputies and be giving vote of thanks, she wondered asking the audience is he not disgracing all of us in the constituency? This, according to her was because I thought when you are made a minister, you are given authority over the ministry and your deputies will be the ones to introduce you for you to talk but I felt sad at what I saw yesterday because the Minister for Information is the MP for our constituency. She consequently asked the residents to show him the exit since he had nothing good to offer. Other speakers including Assemblywoman for Korle Bu electoral area, Theresa Mensah decried the level of corruption that had engulfed President Mills and his ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration. She and speakers before and after her urged Ghanaians to vote against the NDC in the upcoming elections in view of this.
