Political Parties React To President Mahamas Maiden Nation Address

Some political parties have been reacting to the President's maiden broadcast to the nation. While majority of the parties think the message was reconciliatory, others do otherwise. The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia believed the President hit the nail right on the head. He said the President's message was precise and unifying. The General Secretary of the Peoples National Convention (PNC), Bernard Monar described the President's delivery as timely. He however said he is awaiting the President's policy direction which is expected in two weeks time. For his part the leader of the United Renaissance Party, Kofi Wayo says he is also highly expectant of the President's policy direction. The policy, he said must impact serious anti-corruption intentions. The flagbearer of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP), Dr. Abu Sakara for his parts says President Mahama reminded us to build on the legacy of our founding fathers which is civility in the political discourse, but said little about how to tackle the late President's ongoing agenda. In his view, President Mahama will not set a new agenda for economic transformation but he is barely what Dr. Sakara called a care taker government to continue with the NDC's old agenda. The New Patriotic Party (NPP) however says the party has been vindicated by the President address that the government has nothing new to offer Ghanaians. According to the party's Deputy Communication Director, Samuel Awuku, the President is using his PR gimmicks to mask the failures of the government.
