The Ahafo-Ano South District Director of Health Service, Mr Reuben Bedzrah has underlined the need for all to join the fight to roll back malaria.
He said it should not be left to the health professionals alone if significant headway was to be made.
The media, non-governmental organizations, the assemblies and community leaders must all accept to play important roles to bring down the infection.
Mr Bezrah, who was speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Mankranso, said everything should be done to destroy the breeding grounds for mosquitoes and reduce the contact with the vector.
The recent free distribution of insecticide treated nets (ITN) to the people, he noted, was a step in the right direction.
This intervention alongside effective malaria treatment drugs and the administration of anti-malaria drugs to pregnant women to protect mothers and their unborn babies could assist control the disease.
Mr Bezrah said a total of 78,459 treated nets had been freely distributed in the district.
This means that 99.8 per cent of the area�s population now has access to the ITN.
The District Health Director said 21,323 of the beneficiaries were children under the age of five years with the total number of pregnant women coming to 3,197.
He asked the beneficiaries to sleep under the nets.
