The Ashanti Regional capital, Kumasi would once again be alive and agog with political frenzy as the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo and Former President Kufuor among other bigwigs would descend heavily on the Garden City in what promises to be the biggest rally ever to hit a political party campaign platform. It is a day set to launch the campaign of the candidature of the New Parliamentary Candidate for the Asokwa Constituency, Ms. Patricia Appiagyei. As the country gears up to yet another grueling political election, there are frantic preparations by actors of the political campaign in pitching their strength ahead of the 2012 general elections. Between now and the December polls, a number of campaign and media blitz launches would be made all to catch the attention of the prospective electorates. But one such candidate who has defied all odds in a politically perceived male dominated arena is Ms. Patricia Appiagyei. Ma Pat as she is affectionately called by her constituents would use the occasion to outline her major policy direction and interventions for the Asokwa constituency. Among other personalities who have also accepted to speak on that platform are Dr Mahmoud Bawumia, presidential Running mate for Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo, some well young members of parliament who have endeared themselves in parliament and these include Hon Matthew Opoku Prempah, Manhyia MP; Isaac Asiamah, Atwima Mponua MP; Isaac Osei, Subin MP; Simon Osei Mensah, Bosomtwe MP and Lawyer Sarah Adwoa Safo aspiring Parliamentary Candidate for Dome Kwabenya. Also on the bill is the General Secretary of the NPP Lawyer Kwadjo Owusu Afriyie, Frederick Fredua Antoh, and Ashanti Regional General Secretary of the Party. The Program which is christened: the PEOPLES FORUM is an ingenious creation by ASHH FM: a Kumasi based radio station which has taken upon itself to expose the ills of government and provide a veritable platform to Ghanaians to pour their hearts out on issues that is of major concern to them. The program has travelled through many regions including, the western, Ashanti and the Brong Ahafo regions. The current one which is slated for Sunday, 9th September, will be used to launch the campaign for the Asokwa constituency whose Parliamentary candidate is Ms Patricia Appiagyei.
