National Security Needs To Come Out With An Explanation - Dan Botwe

Former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Member of Parliament for Okere Constituency in the Eastern Region, Dan Kweku Botwe, wants the Bureau of National Investigation (BNI) and the National Security to act with dispatch over the secret tape saga involving National Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Yaw Boateng Gyan. According to him, though he understands the grounds for which Mr. Yaw Boateng Gyan made those statements, it still bothers on national security; hence his demand for an immediate action so as to renew confidence in the security agencies and a trust that they will act professionally and impartial at all times. The NDC National Organiser has been implicated in a 35-minute tape recording captured at a meeting held with party foot soldiers about two months ago. He is clearly heard promising to ensure party foot soldiers are specifically recruited into the Special Forces. Yaw Boateng Gyan also mentioned in the said recording that he has contacted the Finance Minister, Dr. Kwabena Duffuor for funds to support the recruitment exercise. Contribution to discussions on the leaked tape on Peace FMs morning show, Kokrokoo General, as the NPP former Chief Scribe is affectionately called said: It bothers on national security; its clearly a national security problem and it is good he has admitted that the voice is his. I will be surprised if by now the tape has not been listened to by the BNI and the National SecurityNational security coordinator should come out and explain to Ghanaians whether it is a practice that has been going onthe President should also do something about it otherwise all this call to meet the political leaders is just gimmick.
