The Convention People�s Party (CPP) has called on the ruling NDC to come clear on its stance regarding the comments made by its National Organizer, Yaw Boateng Gyan.
Mr. Boateng Gyan has been implicated in a tape recording promising to help recruit party foot soldiers to join the country�s security agencies to help the party�s agenda in the elections. In the tape, he promised to ensure party loyalists are specifically recruited into the Special Forces.
Speaking on Citi Fm�s news and current affairs programme, The Big Issue on Saturday, the Communication Director of the CPP, Nii Armah Akomfrah stated that �the NDC Organizer�s utterances are dangerous and it deserves an official stance from his party�.
�When the National Organizer of the ruling party talks about members of the security forces working for us, he is not talking about doing the job that the constitution requires them to do, but he is talking in terms of doing the work for the party. What need is going to arise that they are going to call on them?� he asked.
According to Mr. Akomfrah, the security services exist to defend the nation from both external and internal treats which should be the primary concern of each and every citizen of the country.
He further described the situation as very worrying saying, �it evokes a worrying feeling that somehow there are plots and schemes behind the scenes against the back drop of all the pleadings about security, peace, stability and so something needs to be done.�
�If the President and all of us as living politicians are to be believed in what we are saying, then something needs to be done, not only from the opposition sides, but even on the NDC side and so they should move to condemn what they�ve heard because it is about building a democracy; it�s about the security that we enjoy, it�s about the stability that we enjoy,� he said.
