"God Dey Bless Ghana" Concert Was A Blast

Last Sunday the much talked "God Dey Bless Ghana" concert, Cwesi Otengs grand album release concert, came off and it surely lived up to its billing as arguably the biggest gospel event of the year. Even before 4pm patrons had started entering the event hall in all eagerness to be part of history. By 4:45pm the main auditorium of the Accra International Conference Centre, AICC, was filled to capacity and the audience were being treated to some melodious jazzy tunes by gospel band, PL Crew which was received very well by the audience as shown in the applause they received when they ended their session setting the tone perfectly for the main acts to begin. But even before the first act by Ms.Penjani Ng'uni from Zambia, there was creative grand opening by the Ghana Dance Ensemble and singer Francis Amo that earned a standing ovation from the audience as they were awed by the Akan appellations and hypnotic sounds of the fontomfrom all in reverence to the King of kings. The ministrations followed suit. Firstly, Ms.Penjani Ng'uni who sometimes ventures into the prophetic ministered very powerfully and assured patrons of peaceful elections come December. Mounting the stage to minister after Penjani was another Gospel Diva this time from Ghana,Ohemaa Mercy, looking resplendent in a white Kaba n Slit, she had the whole hall singing and dancing as she sang hit after hit from her repertoire ofdanceable tunes. After Ohemaa Mercy and before the main act of the evening was the legendary Danny Nettey, often touted Ghana's own Grandpapa of Contemporary Gospel Music and man did he bless the house. His easy flow of singing was so refreshing and soothing as he connected very well with the audience. Finally, the ministration of Cwesi Oteng backed by FloRiva Inc, plus the passionate Mercy Project Mass Choir and Fusion on instruments was unleashed on the expectant house. From the moment Cwesis band, Fusion, started with the intro to the last sounding of a drum or keyboard the house stood, sang and danced unless Cwesi asked that they sit and listen. After Fusions intro, Cwesi mounted the stage with his six-man FloRiva Inc., backups all suited very nicely blending with the stage. They ministered Cwesis hit songs such as Meye Wode, Jehovah, Lord You Are Good, Worship Medley, Mercy and then the two most anticipated songs Kabiyesi and God Dey Bless Me which came with some exceptional choreography from current Malta Guiness Street Dance champions. And then Cwesi was off after giving the closing prayer, leaving Prince Henry of FloRiva Inc., to lead Okurayen to take the guests home. The concert which was emceed by Fifii Folson of Sunny FM and Jeremie of YFM, also served as a platform for the launch of the Mercy Project Album which has taken over two years to put together. Every patron at the concert took home a copy of the Mercy Project album that has the hit tracks such as Mercy, God Dey Bless Me, Okurayen, the praise anthem KabiYesi, among others. The commercial album hits stores middle of October. The Concert was proudly sponsored by Stratcomm, CCML, First Capital Plus, , Global Outdoors Systems and Structures. Media partners include ETV Ghana, Joy FM, Sunny FM, Sweet Melodies FM, Happy FM and Citi FM and powered by Episode 7 Events and Cwesi Oteng Creations. It was a blast!
