David Duncan has been approached by the management of Hearts of Oak for talks over coaching the club, supersport.com understands. The Phobians are desperate for direction on and off the pitch as they seek firm ground in the league. Talks are far advanced with the former AshGold, whose outspoken nature has always made him a favorite for media men. He became synonymous with the Obuasi side after guiding them to many memorable games against Ghana's top two clubs for many years. Hearts current boss, Charles 'C.K.' Akunnor has lost four of five games this season, winning only once against New Edubiase. The team is reported to be divided off the pitch as well, with several reports of in-fighting among players and staff. The team's technical bench has been hit with departures, most recently, of physical instructor W.O Tandoh. The club's Board Chairman Togbe Afede XIV is reported by Citi FM in Accra as awaiting the outcome of its negotiations with coach Duncan before making a move on Akunnor. Both David Duncan and Togbe Afede have declined comment on the story. Backing Akunnor Despite these reports, not everyone at hearts wants to see the back of the former Ghana captain. "It�s a shame where we are now, but he needs our help to succeed," said Frank Nelson , a member of the club's management. He went on to tell Footy-Ghana: "I personally think C.K is a good coach and I don�t think sacking him will be better for now." Support has also come from an unlikely source, Hearts legend Mohammed Polo, who says Akunnor finds himself in a club that wants instant results and has no patience for sluggishness in form. "It's hard to ask for time at a place like Hearts of Oak. The fans are always using one eye to look at Kotoko and if they are doing well, they want instant results and they cannot wait. Usually we will ask for patience, but we've gone past that situation now,� he told Viasat 1's Football 360 program on Sunday night. Akunnor became coach earlier in the year following the departure of Serbian Nebojsa Vucicevic.
