The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Tuesday disclosed its intention to seek legal redress over the results of the December 7 polls. Mr Jake Obetsebi Lamptey, NPP National Chairman, who told newsmen in Accra after the party's National Executive Council meeting noted that �we are indeed going to court". He said the party is challenging the figures announced by the Electoral Commission (EC), which named President John Dramani Mahama as winner of Election 2012. He said the decision to go to court was taken after a marathon meeting by the elders of the party and added that �The NPP feels cheated after it was declared losers in last December 7 poll�. The NPP leadership is expected meet supporters at the Obra Spot near the Kwame Nkrumah circle. The EC Chairman Dr Kwadwo Afari-Gyan on Sunday night declared President Mahama as the winner of 2012 Presidential Elections with 5,574,761 votes (50.70 per cent ). He said Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of the New Patriotic (NPP) polled 5,248,898 votes (47.74 per cent ); Dr Michael Abu Sakara Foster of the Convention People�s Party (CPP) - 20,323 (0.18 per cent ); and Mr Hassan Ayariga of the People�s National Convention (PNC) - 24,617 (0.22 per cent ). Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom of the Progressive People�s Party (PPP) - 64,362 (0.59 per cent); Dr Henry Lartey of the Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP) - 38,223 (0.35 per cent); and Mr Joseph Osei-Yeboah (Independent) - 15,201 (0.14 per cent) Others are Mr Akwasi Addai of the United Front Party (UFP) - 8,877 (0.08 per cent). The percentage turn-out was 79.43; total registered voters were 14,158,890; total votes cast were 11,246,982; total valid votes -10,995,262 and total rejected votes -251,720; and total constituencies � 275.
