President Mahama Returns Home From Malabo After Attending ACP Summit

President elect John Mahama returned home last night from Malabo, Equatorial Guinea after attending the 7th summit of the African Caribbean and Pacific Groups of States. He was met on arrival by Vice President Paa Kwesi Amissah Arthur, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Chris Kpodo, some security chiefs and government officials. The African Caribbean and Pacific Groups of States was formed in 1975 and has a membership of about 80 countries. The minister of foreign affairs and regional integration Alhaji Mohammed Mumuni briefed the media on some issues that were discussed at the summit. He said the summit reviewed the last meeting which was held in 2008 and looked at the way forward. Other issues included peace, security, stability and good governance among member states. Eradicating poverty and the energy crisis which he said came up strongly. The 7th ACP Summit also elected President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo of Equatorial Guinea as its new president.
