Security In Fielmua Increased After Attack On Minister

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Paul Tawiah Quaye has deployed additional security personnel to Fielmua in the Sissala West district following the attack on the Upper West Regional Minister, Alhaji Amidu Sulemana last week. Efforts to arrest the suspected armed robbers who shot at the convoy of the Minister is however ongoing. The Deputy Upper West Regional Minister, Caeser Kaleb told Citi News, a lot of pragmatic measures have been taken by our security apparatus in the region. The Police Command are up in arms trying all that they can to arrest the perpetrators who actually embarked on that heinous crime. The IGP has sent down some men to beef up security. We also have the military team with the local Police team and so there is a very solid security arrangement in place. They are patrolling the area and some are doing investigations and they are chalking a lot of successes in investigations, he added. The Regional Minister, Alhaji Amidu Sulemana was shot during an armed robbery attack on his vehicle last week. He was returning from a thank you tour of the area where he had been elected MP. He has since undergone successful surgery to remove one of the bullets which was lodged in his back. Highway robberies are common on the major roads linking the three Northern Regions.
