The flagbearer of the Progressive People�s Party (PPP), Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, is calling on Ghanaians to show respect to the newly sworn in President John Dramani Mahama. Dr. Nduom whose party joined the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in boycotting the inauguration ceremony on Monday, is accusing the Electoral Commission of superintending irregularities that affected the results of the elections. The NPP led by its flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo, is challenging last year�s presidential results at the Supreme Court. The party contends that over a million votes were wrongly added to the tally of President Mahama. But in a statement on his facebook wall, Dr. Nduom said: �A "new" President has been sworn into office today. All Ghanaians are bound to respect his authority just as we are required to ensure that he is accountable to the people and works in a transparent manner in our interest.� According to him, even though there is a legal challenge on last polls, �all parties in that legal challenge must go about it in a manner that will make Ghana stronger and our nation proud.� He called on all parties to accept the verdict of the Supreme Court saying: �All must accept the verdict of the Supreme Court. My prayer is that we all join together to seek change in the manner with which we pursue political office and bring about reforms to our electoral laws and systems.
