Minority Never Intended To Attend Mahama's Inauguration

Minority leader, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu has indicated that assertions that the minority had discussed plans of attending the inaugural ceremony of President Mahama with the Majority, were false. The Minority members of Parliament and the leadership of the NPP did not attend todays inauguration ceremony for President Mahama. According to the MP for Suame when somebody alleges that we [Minority] were reconsidering our decision to boycott, I dont know where it came from. But like you do know, that decision was taken at the national council; and the composition of the national is such that about 50 members of parliament are involved in the decision making. The national council is the highest decision making body outside congress in the NPP, he said. Mr. Kyei Mensah Bonsu said when the proposal was made at the level of the minority parliamentarians it was going to be very difficult for the leadership of parliament or the steering committee to reverse that decision. Our position had always been clear, that the declaration by the Electoral Commission of candidate John Mahama is unmeritorious ; it was wrong and that Nana Akufo-Addo ought to have been declared the winner. We have the figures from the various polling stations. If the program to swear in the person who you are alleging to have stolen the verdict from you and you appear at his inauguration it will appear as if nothing has gone wrong; that is why the party decided not to be at the inauguration. Mr. Mensah Bonsu further stated that the minority in Parliament will consider the matters that are brought before the house and decide which one to debate or otherwise.
