Let My Vote Count Alliance: We Are Not A Rebellious Group

Pressure group, Let My Vote Count Alliance has descended heavily on the Convener of the Forum for Governance and Justice, Dr. Clement Apaak for describing the group as a threat to the countrys security. Dr. Apaak in an interview with Citi News had accused the group of causing fear and panic in the country with their activities and utterances. According to he him, the members of the group at one of their events made inciting comments saying, there was the need for bombs to be provided, there was the need to smash cars, blow up schools and draw attention to the fact that they are serious. Now, if this is not an act that can make the nation ungovernable, then I dont know what else. He quoted another person of the group as saying, the Supreme Court judges must remember that years ago, some judges suffered a fate which most of us have come to regret and that if they do not look at the case before them and provide an outcome, that is just; where just is used to mean the outcome that those who are agitating, they can expect a similar fate. But in a sharp rebuttal, the spokesperson for the group, David Asante noted that Dr. Apaak got it all wrong. He said: What we are saying which Dr. Clement Apaak missed is the fact that, we are calling for drastic electoral reforms in our Electoral Commission so that the Electoral Commissioner will not have the sole mandate of conducting elections and when the elections and when the Electoral Commissioner speaks, nobody dares challenges him. We have very little or absolutely no say when the rules of the game were deeply flouted, massive irregularities and the entire electoral rules like no verification no vote were deeply and grossly violated. These are the issues that the organization, Let My Vote Count stands for in seeking to explain to the people of Ghana, he added. Mr. Asante clarified that the group is canvassing support across the country to support the pursuit of justice. We are not a rebellious group, neither are we a group of people who incite or instigate violence.
