NPP To Boycott State Of The Nation Address

Information rife to peacefmonline.com indicates that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will not be attending President John Dramani Mahama�s State of the Nation Address in Parliament on Thursday, February 21. The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party(NPP), Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, confirmed on Kumasi-based Hello FM that,the party will not be attending the function. The New Patriotic Party (NPP) are challenging the legitimacy of President John Dramani Mahama and for that matter have decided not to attend any programme from the presidency; which will acknowledge him as President of Ghana and that includes the State of the Nation's Address. Touching on the recent fuel hikes,the General Secretary, Sir John urged Ghanaians to keep their fingers crossed adding that the "strife wont be long for the inept and incompetent NDC government to go out of power for Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo to assume the seat and steer affairs of the country to the proper destination". "Rampant power outages, increased school fees and now increased fuel prices,Ghanaians are really suffering under this corrupt government" he intimated. Member of Parliament (MP) for Suame constituency and Minority leader in Parliament,Hon. Osei Kyei Mensa Bonsu had earlier indicated in an off-air interview, that the party executives were yet to make a decision concerning the issue. According to him,the party will have a crunch meeting on Wednesday to decide whether or not to attend the state of the nation's address.
